Oracle offer: ~330k (190k base + 140k RSU/y) IC4 SalesForce : ~300k (210k base + 30k bonus + 60k RSU/y) LMTS Both offering around 35k signon. I know more folks at SalesForce, and there's a good chance I can get promoted in a year (given that I know what I have to do and the work seems quantifiable) - but not a guarantee obviously. I felt the interviews at Oracle were more challenging though - I know the group has been attracting a lot of good folks of late. But from what I hear, bonuses/increments/promotions are VERY rare/difficult there.
go to Salesforce. Most people at Oracle are incompetent and their âcloudâ is a massive joke.
Donât just give a lame answer. Be more subjective . It might be the case a few years back. I was hired from a FAANG company and I know the standard has increased over the last two years. I personally know of 4 recent $ 10M+ ArR Oracle cloud customers that were prior salesforce customers OPâs point of more a challenging interview shows the improvement
the fact that the standard increased and people are still incompetent makes you wonder how bad it was before.
I would say go with Salesforce.. my opinion might be biased but I don't think Oracle can win cloud war..
hahahahaha no.
Oracle doesnât need to win any cloud war. They can stay at #4-5 and still multiply profits as the rest of the 80% of the enterprise migrates.
What level at Oracle would you be? Ic4 or ic5?
I would suggest Oracle, better wlb and better pay
Yoe?
Salesforce always gives bonus. They might not in a major downturn but then it would be the least of your concerns.
How are the commute compared for toy between the two? I also got comparable offer between oracle and salesforce & chose salesforce. Know many folks in both. What it came down for me is that salesforce has better culture and everyone at oracle seems to want to jump ship after few years. Oracle hires donât seem great neither IMO based on people I know who have gone there.
I live in the south bay and the Oracle office is like 15 mins away.. But SalesForce provides free wifi-shuttle commute - so it's just a time commitment and Thursdays are WFH for the group.. Was the offer you got for the Oracle OCI group ?
Yes. This is for Seattle office. If I am in San Francisco, It will depend on which teams at oracle/salesforce. Oracle and salesforce both have teams work on dinosaur tech or latest tech. Ignore the rants about infra. Infra is a huge org (1000+) it really depends on which team at that point. I am in infra and I found the culture is fine.
What role is this for?
Salesforce infra just went through a huge reorg. The new goals are lofty, but a lot of its talent is mediocre. On the bright side, its top management is ex-Microsoft. You will feel right at home.

Depends on what you value more ? Learning or promotion/money? I believe at this stage Oracle is working hard to bring in the best talent and bring some innovation to the cloud suite of apps. I would say learning wise it will be good to join Oracle. I would give it another 2-3 years to see how the whole transformation effort unfolds at Oracle. One can always switch after a few years if there isnât any pay hike or promotion or the product isnât doing well
