How is the culture at Salesforce for Product Designers? TC 160 base + 60k options 13 yoe Bonus if you know about any culture in Boston.
As a longtime user of the Salesforce platform, I wasn't aware Salesforce had any designers.
Depends on what you’re looking for and what you enjoy. I like enterprise-type challenges and enjoy the complexity, the grind, and the interactions I regularly have with a huge number of people across multiple disciplines. The people at Salesforce are generally delightful, and the culture is happy and helpful; I can reach out to someone I’ve never met, and we’ll often chat for an hour and not worry about what’s in it for us. The company says they’re serious about relationships and that’s what I’ve seen most people their practice. I have not experienced that elsewhere. Not saying it doesn’t happen elsewhere, but the environment here is healthier than where I’ve been. The work can be frustrating at times. Making changes never happens as fast as they should. But everyone, in all disciplines and at all levels appreciates design and designers, even if they don’t always understand what we do. And I’ve been happy with the pay. I’m a principal, and my total comp is $300k, with a base of $210k. So yeah. I’m not complaining.
When you say principal, do you mean principal designer, or engineer?
And +1 on the name 😉

No self-respecting designer should work at an enterprise product company.
I hear you, that’s what I had been thinking but all the places I “really want to work at” don’t seem to pay what I want... maybe sales force should be low on the list in that respect haha
Thanks for taking response in the right spirit. The more critical is design for a company’s customers, the more the company will value design talent and thus, pay higher.
