I recently interviewed with a team at Salesforce which previously included another 4 rounds till I was brought onsite. I had a great experience in all the 5 rounds and I was very positive about the outcome. I learnt today from the recruiter that my feedback was all positive however someone internally took up the role. I am not understanding if there was someone internally ready to accept then why waste someones time. Is this normal at Salesforce??
What’s the difference between someone else external taking the role or you? You both had a chance and they did better. Internal applicants get passed up for roles in favor of external candidates all the time. Don’t blame their decision on the candidate being internal, they might have just performed better than you.
Not really internal candidates do get a preference over external, thats what the recruiter said as my feedback was positive!
If your feedback was strong, they will try to match you with other teams. That’s what happened to me.
I am sorry, a positive feedback doesn’t mean you reached the bar. Sometimes your performance wasn’t enough for an offer. Also, recruiters tends to be as nice as possible when giving you the bad news.
This is BS. If the feedback is strong, they will match you with another team (+2-3 Hangouts) this happened to me
Oh yeah I have been matched for another team and 2 hangouts rounds!
Awesome, way to go! So sounds like the recruiter was being sincere about the internal candidate bit. Congrats!
Oh yeah he mentioned to me that thats something recruiters dont like when such things happen! Any idea on the 2 rounds on google hangouts is it going to be coding or just design questions?

It's like the internal person also interviewed for the same role and might have performed well too
I understand that but its like so much effort, energy and preparation that’s invested to reach onsite and then you hear that your feedback was really positive however someone internally takes the role..feeling sucks!
That sums up the interview process , end of the day. U have to be at the right place at the right time. Don't take it to heart man, these things happen quite often Also hiring internal person is a lot less effort. People renege offers quite often in India
