I have offers from Salesforce Research and Amazon AWS for a scientist position (YOE 6 after Phd). Both compensations are comparable with base of 185k and TC is 390k. Amazon: RSUs are 230 vested 5%, 15%, 40%, 40% Salesforce: RSUs of price 570k vested 25% every year Any comments on Amazon AWS life and Salesforce Research life?
Amazon base is not 185
180 is the last
I have the offer written. 185k base (Bay area)
You’ll learn a lot in AWS; wlb depends on team
WLB is on thing that worries me about Amazon
how much tc in total?
TC is 390k
I updated TC and RSUs
See base is what you need to look at. You anyways can't sell stocks until they vested. By the time they get vested, you plan to sell them these companies will add few more.. most of the the time people end up not using it. I don't know why people emphasis so much on TC. Apart from joining bonus and base, other stuff like health insurance and stocks - you will not be using on daily basis. You're salary will be 185k - taxes = 13k per month. Which is less for your educational skills and yoe. Rest is your wish. Negotiate. I didn't negotiate despite having an offer. Also ask at what level they are hiring you.
Amazon has a cap on base which is 185k. In the first year, only 5% Amazon stocks are vested but they give 180k lump sum to meet the compensation of the first year. They will do the same next year when 15% stock will be vested. In other words, I will be getting cash at the end of every year whether by selling vested stocks or in the form of cash from company. I have negotiated quite a lot and now there is not much chance to further increase it.
Is this for senior applied scientist at Amazon ?
What did you finally decide? based on your experience over the last 2 years, do you have comments for people in your situation?
Same I would like to know as well
Isn't 185k less for your educational qualifications? Negotiate! Please
That’s the base
That's what! It's very less
