Just got this offer this week 11 yoe 170k / 15% / 100k rsu = 220k TC Married w/2kids - wife stays at home. Moving from SoCal LA (TC 165k) Messed up my leets in interview and got downleveled to SMTS - kind of surprised I even got offer. They are not giving a lot of time to decide. Working on getting Amazon (PeopleTech-Sea)/ Uber (SF) onsites due to offer. Part of me wants to move but I would like TC 260k at least to make it worth the move. Only reason for move is TC + better tech scene future. Suck it up, take it and prove myself there or bail and keep looking? How high can they go?
They are lowballing for sure.
It's definitely low for 11yoe. But if this is increasing your current TC by more than 30% then consider it and move in 2 years.
It’s a 30% increase but pretty even for COL change, and QoL might take a hit Part of the plan is that once ”in” it would be easier to move around for higher TC - even at the same company
You won't be able to get higher TC within Salesforce but yes once you are you can move somewhere else within 2 years.
Extreme lowball, considering they do not have free food and a sandwich near their office costs $15 pre tax.
For 60k pretax or 35k post diff in salary? Meh. It'll be pretty hard with 2 kids and stay at home wife. Where are you targeting to live in the Bay? SF is not for families. San Mateo? Do you currently own a house in LA? I agree with Goog's reply above. Why not try for Google and SNAP (yeah I know they probably dying) in Venice Beach for an increase in TC in LA?
Probably renting in East Bay - union city, hayward, walnut creek? Trying to not go to far down. We own a 4bd house, on a nice 10k sqft lot that we would rent out - PITI is 3k, was looking to rent in Bay Area between 3.5 - 4.5k
Yeah probably not Walnut Creek unless you like spending 2+ hrs in traffic everyday. And the commute from East Bay to SF in BART is not fun or safe. Your housing situation will be a major downgrade, but check out what you can get for $4k near SF ... not sure what the current rental market is like now.
I’m from SoCal too and think that SoCal is better for a family of 4. At least the houses are cheaper. Anyways, your tc looks fine. It is possible to make 220tc in SoCal too.
Def agree - it’s just me wanting to increase or double TC, get a big name on resume and buy a Tesla :) I can probably do 220 tc here but it would be hard top for IC
Salesforce isn't a top name. Don't take it
Run away worst offer for 11 yoe VMware offers better
This doesn’t look like a good move with a family.
Well take home would be around 12k, with deductions and max out 401k Rent 4k Utilities + food 2k Leaves 6k for rest of expenses Cars are paid off, $0 debt aside from mortgage Has to be pretty close to what I have left over every month over here
Come work for eBay, TC around 300k+
Not OK. But everyone has his/her own choice. WL balance is awesome here though.
That is what I keep hearing and makes me consider it

how can i loose 5 pounds with small changes to lifestyle
That’s very low. Personally I wouldn’t move. I believe sales force refreshers are poor too. Honestly mate moving here with two kids and without a working wife is going to be a huge mistake unless you’re at well over $300k with a strong upward trajectory. Just chill elsewhere.
The goal was to try for 300k TC - and go from there, but def tripped up on this one.
It’s ok man. Just be sure you’re making the right move in general is all.
