Which one do u think is better for new grads given there is not much salary difference between the two locations ? San Francisco is the head quarters, but Bellevue has low cost of living and no state tax. Folks at Bellevue, how are the teams and work at Bellevue office ? SF MTS offer: 158k base, 10% bonus, 110k stocks, 40k sign on / relo Bellevue MTS offer: 150k base, rest all same. 3 yoe before Masters
Not sure about the teams. But 150k in Bellevue >>>>> 158k in SF
there is only the 9% state tax difference, right ? I have seen the house rents are almost similar in bay area (Fremont, etc) and Bellevue. Ofcourse with the extra commute from bay area.
I personally lived in both the places. Pros of Bellevue: 1. Lesser traffic 2. Cheaper houses (2.2-2.5k, 2bed apartments with parking) Cons: 1. Weather 2. Bay area has better tech presence, easy to switch
why is your base equivalent to mine after almost 5 years? 😢
Salesforce.
Bellevue for sure
Uhhh Bellevue is not low COL it’s one of the most expensive areas in the Greater Seattle Area? I’m guessing you mean lower compared to SF.
I think SF makes more sense. Though things are remote, but you will have more visibility once the offices open. And I am sure you know that there is no sun in Seattle.
Come on man. SF for sure.
If you join Bellevue, stay away from UI Platform, unless you want to spend half your time engaging in politics.
what about Kernel cloud ?
Don't really interact with them, so can't say.
SF. Think long term career growth. Others pointed out it's easier to switch in SF with more opportunity. Right now, starts are remote, and you won't need to move to SF for quite some time. Take the higher pay, and when the time comes to work from the office, if you have second thoughts about location, them transfer teams.
Stock refreshes in SF would probably be better than Bellevue and so would annual base increases. The salary difference will likely be much more in subsequent years. Also, I personally think the weather in Seattle/Bellevue is depressing AF
Stock refresh is not based on your location
Like u said, no state tax and low cost
