Hello folks, I have an on-site interview with salesforce for lead engineer next week in sfo and was wondering if anyone who had recently appeared for the on site could share some information and experience How many rounds ? What sort of questions can be expected? Do’s and Dont’ts Thanks in advance
Varies by team but expect 3 or 4 interviews with team members (could be 1:1 or 2:1) that range from technical whiteboarding to behavioral questions. Lunch with manager(s) is about cultural fit. Dress code is lax - nice jeans and a button down for engineering is on the top of the range.
Jeans and a collared shirt, no tie is always appropriate. On some teams a megadeth t-shirt is also appropriate for an engineer, but never a manager. Expect 5 technical interviews and lunch with a manager. There is a standardized question pool, but many teams ignore it. You could be in for anything...
So technically what areas do I need to focus?? You said there is a standardized pool of questions. What is the complexity of those questions ??
Honestly, I’ve never looked st the question pool. My team ignores it. ;)
Prepare for things such as algorithms, code quality, systems designs, distributed systems, oo concepts, etc. the bar is higher (and the questions are harder) in infra. Expect to write code on a whiteboard. Very little (if any) leetcode.
Really, the bar is higher in infra? I interviewed in SF and the questions were medium to easy leetcode
Yeah, Infra doesn’t use leetcode at all and has a much higher bar than the product side (some may say too high)
Was told by a recruiter that expected attire was a sport jacket and tie at minimum (for an engineer role). Decided not to carry that on a plane and opted instead for a dress shirt and slacks... and I was waaaaay overdressed.
could you share the type of questions that were asked to you, I mean few examples I know same questions won’t be asked but that would help me the assess the complexity level
A sport jacket at Salesforce? The recruiter must have been high.
