I had two questions about Samsung retention bonuses: 1) Is it normal for them to only kick in at the end of year 2? Could I negotiate to get it at the end of year 1? 2) Are there refreshers after the initial amount finishes?
I don't recall any retention bonus, are you referring to joining bonus ?
You can also negotiate a retention bonus similar to RSU's at other companies. The bonus has sort of a "vest" schedule
I negotiated at the time of joining. But once it expired, HR basically told me it's impossible for refresher

For the sake of being anonymous I will give you ranges: for 6 to 7 years experience you should expect 145 to 160 base, 15 to 20 percent bonus, and some amount of retention per year around 25K based on different factors
Retention refreshers would make for a really weird company culture... never heard anything like it
