San Diego peeps, help me out?

I am considering moving to San Diego from the Midwest. Few questions I got. - how much money is good money? - how is the dating scene over there?

If you are male dating might suck. Its a navy town. So male female ratio is absurd. But if you are decent looking, in decent shape - add in the fact you are in tech (which makes you different from other majority) you have a good chance. Money - depends on your level/age. A decent 1 bed is anywhere from $1600 to 2k.

Rent depends: you can be inland for $1200 or you can share 3 bedroom house for $3000/3

Midwest is pretty cheap. SD is an expensive area as compared to Midwest but not as expensive as the bay. You give California taxes. 2b 2b is ~2.5k to 3k in a good area. It is difficult to give you a number unless I know your current salary or standard of living. Dating isn't great. If I could feel that as a woman, I am sure you will feel worse as a man (assuming you are a guy).

Dating is heaven in SD for women. I have no clue how it would suck for both male and female.

The only place dating is heaven for anyone is NYC. Nothing compares to it. Everywhere else it is slow.

Buy a used RV and live out of it. The weather is perfect. No need to pay for an apartment or house

I actually almost did this when I lived out there, but the city makes it real hard to do it legally.

There are resorts where you can do it legally but they also cost ~800/month

There’s a reason they call it “Man Diego.” Dating isn’t easy for dudes, statistically. Still a great town, I miss it. Salaries are lower than Seattle, the Bay, or even LA. Ask for as much as you can get based on your YOE. Aim high, even if you may not get it. SD economy is driven by the defense industry and biotech. That’s where most jobs are. Qualcomm too, but they’re in constant churn. You won’t regret the move though. I might go back. Cost of living is high, be prepared.

When I was in SD, there were more females than dudes from some demographic surveys. Anyway, if you are in your 20s, just hang around SDSU for slutty hot chicks.

With a family, probably closer to $200... But I imagine OP is single since he is asking about dating ;)

Family is > $300 and you can live extremely well. Huge New homes are 1.3mm
