What are the best short, medium, and long term vehicles to save/invest money for public servants (read: 5 figure salaries) in SF? I'm guessing 401k/403b for long term... What are other mechanisms to grow the value of the little that I save every month? I can save a total of $1k a month to invest/grow. Any ideas on good ways to split this $1k into investments would be awesome too. Before you suggest I move, the rent control apartment I live in is in a nicer neighborhood and is cheaper than most other areas of the Bay, so moving isn't an option at this point. Also my commute totally rocks, so I don't want to change that either.
Just become a janitor, hustle, make 300k
Elaborate? Plus if I were to be a janitor I'd do it at one of those sweet tech campuses.
I'm not gonna sleep in the closet for overtime my manager wouldn't like that
Airbnb a room at your place for income stream
Landlord is looking for excuses to boot me
Oof
Qualify for the pension. Take advantage of any matching on the 403b.
Thanks. Any other things you'd invest in specifically?
