Is Salesforce developer a good career choice?

How much does Salesforce developer gets Paid in the USA?

Do Salesforce developers' salaries equivalent to the salaries of SDE's in top product-based companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Linkedin?

The salary difference with SWE would be significant.

Reason: SWE is an engineer capable of building softwares. Salesforce is just one of such.

The Salesforce developer’s expertise is only in a specific software, and that too not as a builder of the product, but more or less like a user.

  • Down the line, if you want to work independent and start your own consulting firm, go for it. I know someone who was sfdc developer later started his own firm, hired few in the US and bunch in india, and now he is making way more than FB Directors yearly.

  • Salesforce developers are like consultants who builds apps using APEX. I'm not sure if it's a good career choice, but if you don't have a good technical background it would be an easier route to go compare to SDE who leetcodes daily.

There are many ways to become successful, you just need to pick the right route, and it's never too late to switch route either!

    I’m in a similar situation.
I have 3years of work ex as Salesforce Developer. I worked in India for Accenture, Salesforce.
I’m currently pursuing Masters in US in a Data Analytics focused program.
I’m confused if I should take Data Analytics/Science career path or Software Engineering/Development path or Salesforce Developer path?

My previous work ex in Salesforce will help me to land mid level/senior positions in Salesforce Development career. If I go for Software Engineer/Developer or Data career, I should start New grad/Entry level opportunities.
But again, if I have to take Software Engineering or Data related career path, I can do that only in the next 1 year before I graduate, because once I start working, it is almost impossible to switch domains.

I like Salesforce Development. I came for a masters degree to explore Data Analytics/Science and software engineering.
    Both careers are rewarding.
But I have to decide which path to take in the next few months. I just don’t want to regret later and would like to hear any opinions and experiences who have been in similar situations.

It sucks. Was doing Salesforce app dev in my previous job - LWC, APEX and all and I feel it's shit compared to working on other tech stack like Java spring and so on.
