Season of giving back - Resources for product role
Happy Holidays everyone:
In the spirit of the season of giving back I am creating this quick summary of useful resources that I have come across this year in my effort to get better at product management and find a new job at one of the product companies in Bay Area. While I am yet to get an offer that I can leave Disney for, hoping this will be useful for others in the same boat.
1. If you are just getting started, read these books to understand the lay of the land (Roles at different companies, resume, frameworks, practice common questions): Cracking the PM Interview & Decode and Conquer. Actually these books are good for even experienced PMs and their websites are full of some other resources.
2. List of crowd sourced real interview questions: https://tinyurl.com/PMQues2019
3. Places to find partners for mock interviews: https://stellarpeers.com/, pminterview.slack.com, http://bit.ly/mock-signup
I did onsite rounds at FB, Uber, Netflix, LinkedIn and Amazon this summer with mixed success, didn't get the offer I wanted, so planning to go back to FB this spring (recruiter offered 2nd attempt sooner than usual 12 months cooling period based on the performance).
Please share tips and resources that worked for you, specially if you broke into the PM roles at one of the leading product companies.
PS: Looking for references for generic PM track interviews at Airbnb, Slack, Microsoft, Google and similar product focused companies. I will be happy to talk to you over phone if you want before referring me.
