Hey all! My partner and I are looking at relocating to Seattle from Portland for more opportunities. I'm a SWE so hoping it won't be too hard to find something, but he is an engineer with a background in both mechanical and manufacturing engineering and has had little luck finding opportunities in Portland. Any insight into what the mechanical and/or manufacturing opportunities are like in Seattle? Companies to look into, meetups to attend, etc?
Boeing, Amazon robotics, Amazon Ops, AWS/Microsoft Azure/ Google cloud data center engineering
Paccar
Thanks for the replies! I had never heard of Paccar but that seems like an interesting opportunity. Same with the others. I'll pass those along!
If it is Intel background it will be tricky..
Ah not a ton of semiconductors up there? That almost seems like the only option here other than the odd machine shop.
Facebook Oculus/Reality Labs, Valve, Cruise Automation, and probably every other self-driving car company.

Microsoft and Facebook both have hardware teams hiring MEs
Hey thanks for the reply! Do you think those are "you need to know someone" type places or just applying through the HR site is sufficient? I know it may be different based on the specific team.
Probably a mix. DM me, I can pass on a resume.
