With Amazon continuing to grow, it's going to get worse. The city feels like a company town: little diversity, no urban energy, dull, lifeless.
How much of a role do you think weather plays in this?
Don't think it's the weather. NYC and Chicago have awful super cold winters, but they are EPIC cities filled with energy, interesting people from different backgrounds, beautiful women, vibrant social scenes.
Maybe you're just hanging out in the wrong areas. Bellevue, Redmond and Issaquah are all extremely diverse suburbs of Seattle and there is plenty to do.
Seattle native here...if ya don't like it, get the fuck out, you won't be missed.
You can't be Seattle native. Seattle natives are better and more humble!!
maybe...until imports start talking shit about our great city. We're hugely diverse, have amazing culture & energy, unbeatable natural beauty...and then you get people flocking here from shitholes like L.A. and ruining things while simultaneously denigrating the city. Happy to have you here if you appreciate it, otherwise GTFO! ๐
Seattle used to be owned by Boeing. Amazon is just in the downtown area. Boeing had their hq at Boeing Field. Factories in Everett and Renton. Offices every where in the Puget Sound region. Amazon can't make up for all the lost factory jobs that Boeing provided. Seattle is Lucky we have all these tech companies or we would have ended up like Detroit....
Surprised you didn't mention Microsoft.
Microsoft is Redmond.

I neither agree nor see the connection. Is there another company town that Seattle reminds you of? Maybe an example would help
Detroit back when the big 3 auto firms were dominant. When such a large % of professionals in a given city work for the same firm, that adversely affects the culture and social scene, making it an unbearable nightmare, not unlike a dystopian future come to life.
Vastly different workforce than the Auto industry
