2008 Seattle budget: $1,898,008,000 2018 Seattle budget: $5,591,071,000 And the city still thinks it needs to soak Amazon with an additional tax?
City has to spend more to accommodate a massive influx of amazon special snowflakes and you still complain lmao
The budget TRIPLED in ten years
Yeah, fuck amazon. Greedy bastards
Bezo needs to pay his additional tax due. He just can’t consume tax payer money to build Amazon. As amazon employees I would like the special tax on Amazon. This will help Seattle community. We will have better school and infrastructure.
Amazon can easily write balance budget amount and still be profitable.
Seattle can easily cut the budget in half and still find 150mil for homeless people.
I am beyond grateful at the pushback to the socialist trash that seattleites are exhibiting. Even construction workers united to shut down kshama last week to protest the head tax. Thank God the average Seattle citizen isn't as extremist as our shameless city council.
Sawant needs to go for reasons beyond her economic ignorance. She was on Twitter calling Barbara Bush a racist right after she died. That woman is evil trash.
Sawant still has 2 years to her term... is anyone saying they will run against her? Ready to donate in her district to anyone running against her! Problem, we are about to have an even bigger problem as they are not looking long term and the amount of people on the verge of being homeless.... many homeless don’t want anything but a handout and those on the verge are still willing to work and try to stay out of being homeless.
A lot of Seattlites want the tax to discourage the growth of amazon in the city. It hasn’t been good for them after all, with doubling housing costs. Expansion needs to slow down until housing development can catch up.
It's been good for them. They are much better off in absolute terms than they were before. In RELATIVE terms that have moved to a lower income quartile even though their income has grown. Translation: they be jelly
How has it been good for them? Flat income, rising housing prices. There aren’t enough houses/condos in the city. Prices have risen because there are more people who want one then houses that exist. The current solution is to force people with low incomes out of the city. Most people don’t like being driven from their homes. The high prices are simply the mechanism with which this is being done.
Now divide it by number of workers and residents. duh!
The population hasn't tripled.
2018 population = 700k 2008 population = 600k Duh.
