I currently have around 1.5 years of experience. I'm planning to switch companies in the next year or so. Assuming I prepare for 3-4 months starting now and then interview, will I be considered for SDE2/E4/L5/T4/IC3 level roles? Or do I have to wait until I complete 2 years in job, then prepare for 3-4 months and interview? Which one sounds reasonable to be considered for SDE2 level role? My target companies are Facebook, Amazon, Apple, LinkedIn, Google, Uber, Lyft, OCI. Please advise. Thanks :)
I'd just take 4 months and then round up to 2 yoe. It doesn't really matter. What matters if you can make they case that you're at that level. I have 2.5 yoe at msft but was promoted to SDE II in 16 months and just got an offer at Amazon for SDE II 290k/yr TC and a Senior offer at Salesforce for 246k/yr TC, both in Seattle.
My advice: try pegging
Google will almost certainly down level u to L3.
Amazon teams are 80% likely to loop you for L5

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Early you start the better.. Don't even prepare. Start applying.. worst case u wud b rejected.. but you will gain experience in this.. if u give time to prepare u are letting go of opportunities
Not true, good and that ilk will let you postpone and keep checking in, I know from experience bro
Most companies have a cool off period. Consider that while giving random interviews without preparation. It is a waste of time for everyone included if you don't intend to join the company. Give yourself a couple of months of preparation. Start interviewing in companies that you know you don't want to join. It you clear a couple of such interviews, apply at any of the companies that you want to join.
