I'll be moving to a new apartment soon and I'm looking to get some help with the move. Any recommendations? I've tried some moving companies before based on their Yelp reviews. They turned out bad. I got the feeling that they were trying to waste as much time as possible because they get paid by hour. Location: South Bay (San Jose). YOE: 10 TC: 400k
Moving company can waste a lot of time in packing boxes. buy packing boxes from home depot, pack your stuff your self. Disassemble furniture partially if you can ( buy a power drill , totally worth it ). Move fragile stuff in your car. Basically you take care of the time consuming stuff. Leave the heavy lifting to the movers.
Yep, that's what I always have done, except for moving the fragile stuff. That's a good idea.
I used Sweet Lemon for a move from the South Bay to the East Bay. We packed up boxes before they got there, but they supplied & packed wardrobe boxes for our closets. I did an online quote and handled everything by email; their time estimate of 5-6 hours (including drive time) ended up being spot on.

Have you used them before?
Yes. They aren't expensive and if you have your stuff packed then you should be done in a couple of hours
