Senior Financial Analyst Increased TC Consistently but Needs Direction
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for those that get through it. I believe there is a lot of useful TC info as well.
Based in Los Angeles…
1st Job for 1.5 years – Analyst, Finance and Corporate Development in TV Production Industry, closed 6 M&A deals. TC 50k
Laid off…didn’t work for 8 months. Covid related.
2nd Job for 9 months – Analyst, CorporateFP&A at niche company(services laundry machines) but leader in field. TC 75K
3rd Job for 5 months – Senior Financial Analyst in Media, TC 100K all cash
Laid off…Got the two offers below but turned them down. Partly because I got a bad feeling from the team, and mostly because I decided I’m particularly determined to work in the entertainment/media/tech at a brand name.
• A. SFA at Technology Company – TC 129K first year. 105k base, 35k equity/4 years, 5k sign on, 10% target bonus
• B. SFA at Internet/Media Company – 105k base, 10% target bonus, 5% pension
Instead of taking those offers, I am currently working as a contractor… Senior Financial Analyst – Consultant. My rate is 55/hr, guaranteed 40 hours with good WLB and my manager knows I’m just doing it for the money and don’t want to convert to FTE with them. Anything over 40 hours is time and a half.
My ideal role was finance at Netflix, but they went with someone more experienced after final round interviews. I am currently interviewing for contract roles with Apple and Disney. I typically get considered for FP&A roles. Sadly companies rarely consider me for Strategy/Corp Dev since investment bankers get priority.
I am trying to decide if contract roles are worth it. How do they look on a resume? I feel like I could benefit from some brand name recognition, and after my bad luck with other companies, I think contracting for clients could be a good idea for the next 6-12 months.
Any suggestions? Thank you!! #corpfinance #finance #fpa
