How many min years of total yoe do people become/are hired as senior SDE at Amzn? I checked few LI profiles. People became/were hired as senior SDE with 3 yoe. After seeing my LI profile, Amzn recruiter called me for senior SDE position even though I have 1.5 total yoe. If hired as senior SDE in such cases, will the TC be of that position?
If you get L6 for 18 months experience I have very little faith in the quality of Amazon engineers.
This thread sounds like a hoax. I have never seen an external hire L6 with less than 5 YOE, with average much higher. While theoretically possible for an L4 hire to move to L6 in 3 years, for a fresh university hire, this is highly unusual and would be subject to promo audit and lots of scrutiny.
I bet the recruiter broadly reached out different people on LinkedIn with a generic senior engineer template message.

Many Amazon recruiters and HMs try to sell L5 SDEII positions as senior software engineer positions. Ask the recruiter whether this is an L5 or L6 position. L5 == SDEII, L6 is senior. Yoe for L6 engineers vary. I have seen some with 4 years experience in retail orgs and some who are still SDEII s after 7 years. It's very unlikely they're recruiting you for an L6 if you're not already a senior at Microsoft. Some L62s do get L6 offers, but that's because they absolutely killed the interview and were underleveled at Microsoft.
Or far more likely, killed the interview because they are good at leetcode but the level they were at ms because they are not very good at their actual job. Which unless they work at leetcode, is not, in fact, leetcode.
Leetcode alone will not get an L6 offer from Amazon.
