I'm wondering if you think my job title is accurate, and if not, what would you recommend it be? My responsibilities are in order of priority: * Lead technical discussions with other companies collaborating on projects * Represent the company at customer demos, including running the demo presentations * Team Leader for a group of five developers * Develop Product Backlog for solution we are implementing, as well as the Sprint Backlog * Mentor two new hires * Develop software While my title says "Senior Software Developer", this was determined before any of the team lead, backlog management, and mentoring came into play. Is it an accurate title? If not, what would be more accurate? Thanks in advance
I always assumed that developing product backlogs was more domain knowledge. Sure I’d say ur a senior dev
It varies widely from company to company. What your describes is about L5/E5/L6 at google/fb/amzn. Which is what they call senior. Other companies senior does less. In general TC is much better indicator of normalized level then title.
I have a super inflated title(principal) but don’t have the yoe. I’m aiming for l4 at google. Will it be weird?
No, that is very common.
