Senior Software Engineer TC 4 YoE Bloomberg

I have been at Bloomberg NYC as a senior software engineer for over a year and a half now and only received 5 stars positive feedback. My TC is 180k and I just reached 4 YoE total. How much should I ask for at my next negociation?

I had 3 years experience and did on-site at Bloomberg. It was easy(LRU Caching and similar leetcode medium), but just wasn't my day, couldn't clear. But the recruiter I was working with told me I can ask for 180K base How much of your TC is bonus?

depends where you end up in stack ranking. dm me.. Iā€™ll try to help. (ps: Iā€™m a TL)

If you are a tl at Bloomberg then you should know that employees don't know where they end up in stack ranking and in fact TLs are not supposed to tell employees about stack ranking

Your TL does not decide explicitly how much money you make. So TC negotiation, as you call it, is pointless. Your group manager is the one that has access to comps and even him/her can adjust the number within a very small range. For him to move your TC drastically, (here I don't know for sure) he needs to escalate and prove ... Where your TL can help is to rank you higher (but he needs to want to do it, as in you need to deserve it ) then this will result in an increase that neither your TL nor manager can predict with even certainty .. the black box formula that computes increases changes - so not always predictable . If your total comp is 190 and you are the top in your team I would guess the next TC could be between 210-220, if you are a super star - 230 ish - my guess.

Also it helps to consider your previous years increases ..the trend typically is there ... You won't receive (typically ) +30% if you previously year was %5. Know that from the point of view of the company. .you are building a career ..thus performance has to be predictable and monotonously increasing ... can't be abrupt jumps and drops

Thatā€™s good enough for bb

10K is 6% which is not 5 stars... Not even 3. Itā€™s slightly above meets expectations which they consider subpar and is 4 on a 1-5 scale with 1 being the highest. The wording in the EVAL is so misleading. The make it seem on paper as if youā€™re doing well but in reality they consider that below average and have no compunction about replacing you. Why did you move to Morgan?
