Folks (for whom it is relevant), how do you look for senior roles (management or IC)? You cannot just rely on LinkedIn/Glassdoor and send resumes, as often times such roles are not openly advertised.
If you’re looking for a director or VP role, then recruiters find you, most of those jobs aren’t posted online. Many of these are done through LinkedIn searches or through personal referrals.
Of course. Thing is, how to maximize my chances to get "hunted". LinkedIn is obvious. Personal referrals are more tricky - most, if not all of my friends, are solid mid-level ICs, nobody made it high enough to help recommend me to the right people at the right time...
Your previous boss is the best bet, next is your company partners. Super hard as the pyramid gets narrow at the top. Few if my contacts also got recruited by inevestors, participating in the next round...
>Your previous boss is the best bet This! I feel that pretty much the only way to get a senior job is to have a senior sponsor. Unfortunately, I suck at bootlicking.
