My spouse has been interviewing for a few months and has offers from good startups and large tech companies.

She’s in a pretty sensitive situation. She is 8 mo pregnant and we’re expecting a baby early February. She is yet to reveal to recruiters and hiring managers about her pregnancy and not discussed about maternity leave etc. Also, she’s not currently employed so there’s no option of staying at current company and taking maternity leave.

We’re not sure when is a good time for her to reveal her pregnancy. Also, just postponing the job search post delivery might be too late since it will create a long gap in her resume.

Please help us navigate this if you have some experience or know someone who did. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Accept offer. Doesnt matter. If it does to employer then you should sue them for millions.

This shouldn't be an issue if she's interviewing at a reputable company. The company won't take the reputation risk of rescinding her offer. She can let them know after accepting an offer so that her manager can accommodate the ramp up schedule and prorate team and individual objectives.

  • accept offer, start working, reveal delivery and go on leave. that simple.

  • If you're having a baby, resume gap won't matter. But yeah, revealing post offer won't matter to a company.

  • My wife revealed her pregnancy after receiving her offer letter. The joining date was moved out by 3 months so that she could take 'care' of herself. She was also asked if she will be using benefits. And HM was a female.

    • @ieRw4s It is unfair to the child that you don’t plan ahead before getting pregnant. The team members that are most likely overwhelmed and hiring someone to get help have nothing to do with your private life.

    • 😁 sure enough. let's punish women for pregnancies - such society won't survive long on the planet. why pay them when there are oncall tickets. short term thinking vs long term. and men should have sex only when ready to have a child and god forbid parental leave for the sake of the team. hahaha
