Wondering which office location is best for career growth/wlb/culture as a SWE New Grad. Want to hear thoughts that people have on both locations. Really like San Diego, would want to go there but is it a mistake to not pursue a position in the Bay office.
San Diego office is way better in my perspective; better wlb, less politics, and more things to do.
Anything in particular that stands out between SD and SF?
Unless incentive to go to bay (family, pay, ...) SD is the better city as a young person. I love it there. I know in the end I will move to the bay to grow but I’ll miss SD a lot
Is ServiceNow ur first place working, what things are there to do in SD while living there? I have no family incentive, actually moving out of Seattle to go there, know there's an office here but I dislike living in Seattle
I've worked in both. Overall I would say San Diego is better for growth opportunities within the company because most of the dev teams are in San Diego, along with key directors and VPs of engineering. Devs get treated better down there as well and it's generally a more fun environment. However, if you're unsure about long term, I'd go with Santa Clara for higher starting pay and a lot more opportunities to move to other companies. I enjoyed my time in San Diego more, but Santa Clara is not a bad place to work. Also San Diego is a much niced place to live than the bay IMO.
What’s the salary progression like a ServiceNow
Go with Santa Clara as a new grad
Any reason in particular? COL is high but future opportunities are more abundant in SC
If you’re single then go with Bay Area. You will get good experience and you can move out later in life.
