I have received offers from ServiceNow and Nordstrom. I would really appreciate if you can help me decide between amongst the two as per the below details. ServiceNow: Location: San Diego Level: IC2 Base: 113K Yearly bonus: 10% RSU: 70K over 4 years Sign on: Haven't discussed yet. Relocation: 3K Nordstrom: Location: Seattle Level: E2 - Engineer 2 Base: 140K Yearly bonus: 20% - paid biannually RSU: None Sign on: 20K Relocation: 6K Which one is better considering the growth opportunities, benefits, location expenses, etc. Also, Is there a room for negotiation with either of the offers, if yes, I would really appreciate your feedback on the same. #servicenow #nordstrom #offer #software #advice #engineering #swe
No sign on?
Updated. Its 10K at Nordstrom. Haven't discussed yet at ServiceNow.
For Nordstrom - Sign on can be easy 20K (ask for 25k). Explain them there is no rsu attached. Leaverage ur service now to negotiate. Relocation can be also negotiated to 7K. Base may not have much room as you are in average range.
Are we suppose to do the TC math for you?
Wow for some reason thought servicenow pays more
Depends on performance in interview, mostly. Also, NOW stock is a huge draw. OP’s numbers look like a decent general range for IC2 in San Diego and depending on how the interview with, they can negotiate higher
*bias implicit* The Nordstrom offer is considerably better. Good growth potential as next level up is senior eng 1. Nearly every corner of Nordstrom is building out new tech, big problems to solve, which will make growth (both skills and levels/comp) come naturally. On the flip side, maybe you can make servicenow less terrible for everyone (Nordstrom uses it).
You can ask for some more negotiation on base at Nordstrom. didn’t knew that Service Now pays shit.. Also don’t disregard that one offer is for San Diego and another is Seattle but also there is no state Tax in WA so Servicenow offer looks 🥜
No state tax in WA, while there is high state tax for CA. So the delta on TC is even better for Nordstrom. Plus, being in Seattle is a SWE heavy, tech-centric area where your TC will go even higher.
Servicenow has annual stock refershers and potential for stock to grow.
NOW all day. You want to be at a tech company not a fashion company. Besides the weather in Seattle is yucky.
I don’t have any comparison but can share some info on growth at ServiceNow. My manager always offers to adjust projects based on my interests, to connect coworkers with other teams if they want to change areas, and since the company is growing a lot, many people I’ve worked with have formed new teams and moved to management. I think there are good opportunities for promotion and most people I’ve worked with have been promoted within the last year or two
Irrespective of the offer, if you’re a software engineer, any given day , go to a company whose main business is building software and selling software
Lmao… not always a great philosophy.
