Settling for less - H1B over GC, OPT over H1B, Canada over US
Last one is probably debatable. An observation post - I am beyond convinced that neither #immigration nor #workvisa issues will ever be resolved for people from India. It is us who are to be blamed for this. We as a community are perfectly fine with settling for less.
Lately Iโve seen a surge of posts from poor folks who were not picked for H1B. General theme of their posts are - what companies hires OPT when H1B is unavailable. What they are missing out is they are giving employers a valid reason to โ not โ push for H1B reforms. Typical tenure of an employee is well below 3 years, which is within the range of your OPT. So why should they care about your long term stay when you can be replaced with another OPT holder? This same principle holds true for folks waiting on the GC queue. We are always happy with settling for whatever we can get our hands on.
TC: does that help with our issues?
