As a worker in the US, I feel completely powerless. The cost of living outpaces the wages, the hours are longer and longer, and with at-will employment, I worry about losing my job every single day. The inequality gap is ever widening, and the rich have full control over the rest of us. Economic forces drive us into the cities and cram us into apartments with no hope of ever owning a home or becoming independent. Not to mention the bullshit going on in the Whitehouse right now. What the fuck is the point in keeping on in this society.
What are you talking about? The unemployment rate is historically low and your LinkedIn salary put you at top 10%. The inequity is big but you are at the rich end and your TC probably quadropled the teacher or social worker in your neighborhood. Even if you were laid off, you would have no problem getting another 6 figure salary job in a few months if not shorter. Just look at the mirror see how privileged you are. What's wrong with living in apartments in the city? Majority of the population in Europe live in the city and young people in the US are also ditching car culture and surburbs and moving into the city.
