Sexual harassment HR report

I reported somebody for sexual harassment. In the process of investigation, I have been fighting a lot with HR as they seem to be being on the harasser's side (that guy is in high up management). Does this impact my future career negatively if I quit this company and move to another one?

Hi there, I’ve been through this- I reported a senior manager. HR we’re really nice to me but did nothing concrete to help me. I lost my job, and the guy is untouched. No discipline, no consequences. They kept it all very quiet. So in my experience, it’s the victim whose career is destroyed not the perpetrator.

That is typical. The company protects the abuser because they worry about being sued. It is sort of darkly amusing when these guys freak out about how it ruins the abuser’s career when more often it ruins the accuser’s career. So unfair.

I have repeatedly witnessed HR protect senior employees who they deem as more "valuable".

If your termination was less than a year ago, then you may still have rights against your former employer. The reporter shouldn't be discouraged from reporting because it can hurt the guys career. That mentality would encourage sexual harrassment.

    • You think about yourself, I Sam telling they will think about both. The question is not correct to report or not. The question is how fast they want to take and how correct the info is

Having been there... I’d suggest getting legal advice now, and reporting to police if it’s criminal.

So sorry this happened to you. HR is not your friend. They are a rumor mill who represent management interests. Talk to outside attorney. There is value in what you did. It shows you made an effort to remedy your situation. Now the company or possibly only the manager will scramble to get you fired for some BS reason. That is called retaliation and will get them into a lot of trouble. Your attorney would have a field day with them and get you a big settlement.

I’ve been fighting my previous employer for over 4 years for sexual harassment and retaliation. The perpetrator boasted to me that “HR is very aware of his behavior” and shrugged off my complaints. He is also a good friend of the Controller. I lost my job when i complained about being treated different..which is pure retaliation. The company involved is a very large corporation in the US and is protected by the court system as well as the head of the corrupt EEOC. There will never be justice as long as the courts are stacked against accusers and these abusers are allowed to stay with their company and reap rewards. I have “smoking gun” proof and still can’t get my case through the courts. Do you see now why women typically don’t report abuse?? It does nothing but jeopardize their job and subject them to ongoing Legal Abuse until they are forced to back off.

Absolutely not. They can’t disclose this to anyone. But make sure no one in the department hears about this other than hr and manager in question. Pursue it till the end, don’t give up. Severity is not important, don’t let them downgrade the complaint. They will have to do their due diligence, if there is any person who could vouch for the harassment, you need to name them to HR. Keep everything in writing.

have to raise my voice here, in SWE, one of my previous group, guys are bully towards me. I am a female experienced engineer. I reported to HR, then HR covered them. And point the finger to me. Classic backlash of meToo movement backlash. This group I also report sexual harassment. When out for team lunch, a guy referred at the food I ordered as male’s body part. Then all the retaliation came from his male friends in the group. The manager purposely ask me to use illegal content or unreleased photo to do my work or upload to social media, to try to get me fired! I reported to HR, they again cover up for the manager, saying he just learning... hello, leak is criminal in Apple now, and Apple obviously help to manager to get me into trouble. Horrible story right? And it is true and it happens in Apple now!

Lodge a police complaint. Sexual harassment is a crime. These fucking fortune 500 companies think they can get away with anything. HRs are the most inhumane people on earth. Inspite most HRs being females they still dont really give a damn about sexual harrassment. Its high time every company needs whistleblowers for such situations.
