Shady business practices

I just found out recently that DoorDash steals tips from their drivers by using them to subsidize the driver's payment. How is this even legal? I'm appalled that I've been accidentally subsidizing DoorDash instead of having all of that money go towards the person actually providing the service. Cash tips only for me from now on. What shady business practices from your company should consumers be aware of?

Lol DoorDash also posts restaurant menus without their permission to make it look like there is more options

Thanks to their awesome customer support, I deleted my accounts

I did the same thing. I’m actually surprised they are still in business.

I honestly don’t know how DoorDash is still a going concern. They are a super shitty company from a customer perspective.

Uber 2muchblind May 11, 2019

Yes, it’s true. DoorDash takes a cut of your tip to the driver. UberEats gives 100% of the tip to the driver.

DoorDash ajlX64 May 12, 2019

No we don’t. DoorDash keeps zero % of the tips. You guys are all forgetting that most people don’t tip, in those instances, DoorDash has to contribute a lot more to the pay to make drivers whole.

It's shady because the customer assumes the tip 100% goes to the driver on top of whatever DoorDash pays them. They charge the customer a service fee, a delivery fee, and upcharge on the menu items. If a customer tips, they use the tip to pay the driver, while pocketing the other fees. So, yes, in effect, DoorDash is stealing tips. The fact that they are not upfront about this to the customer, is extremely shady. Why should my tip go to subsidize DoorDash instead of going 100% to the driver? The driver never sees any of the tip unless it's over a certain amount. Shady.

So you are upset they operate like a restaurant?

Thermo Fisher zeussical May 11, 2019

That’s illegal for a restaurant to do that.

Facebook public2 May 12, 2019

No, it's not. It's called tipped wage. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tipped_wage

Salesforce CapHaddock May 11, 2019

Also, they inflate the menu prices for a lot of restaurants.

What is the source of your information? We don't do it since the last 2 years at least.

Lyft 🌸Moana🌴 May 12, 2019

I checked a single restaurant just now and the doordash menu prices are higher than the restaurant’s menu. So, you are still doing it. Check your own information source.
