I was out as the only queer woman at a startup, and on my very first day my boss was wearing a t-shirt depicting two women in bed, kissing each other. My first thought was: "Shit, I've made a huge mistake in taking this job." And the working environment was equally as uncomfortable while working there. But that’s working in #Brotopia I guess. #TimesUp
Take a picture immediately of him. Now
OMG I know the feel!
“Not all tech companies...” Seriously. Don’t give up.
I've worked here for years and never seen a person pull a stunt like this, let alone a manager or CEO. It's a career ending move. Pics or it didn't happen.
My husband (22 at the time) proudly wore shirts like “Save water, fck in a shower” or “I like b00bs” to work until his manager told him it is not appropriate. He honestly thought it was provocative and funny.
Your husband is an asshole
Get yourself the beaver valley shirt
Name the boss and company. Your story sounds 100% fabricated. If not do everyone a favor and name them. ...seriously the metoo movement means nothing if you don't call them out in their behavior.
You should be ashamed of posting this. How dare you.
Dr. Who, you’re a sociopath.
Yaa, You never know, some women might really need it.
Run!! And yes you should take picture with your boss when he wears that career ending stunt tshirt. Just one selfie doesn’t hurt anyone!
Sure there are inappropriate things done in the name of brotopia, but this is going too far. I would look for another job. Also, not all tech companies are like that.
Who the fuck would wear a shirt like that to work???
Some founders are so out of touch. I don’t understand why that would seem like a good idea.
Thank you for you both taking time to reply. I agree. Who would wear a shirt like that to work? That place was quite the uncomfortable place to work, and judging by what I’ve seen my former colleagues posting on Blind, things really have not changed much. It’s sad because that startup has so much potential. But if the people running it don’t want to change, then I highly doubt things WILL change. As time goes, it will just be the same toxic environment, but with more people.
