Many folks who have a verbal offer from Shopify are stuck and waiting for official written offer. Some are stuck in team matching, others past team matching and reference stage even. Im currently at team matching stage. Given the recent news of hiring freezes and layoffs, most of us in this stage must be super stressed. Creating this post to keep track of any updates (both good and bad) from Shopify as they clear up the backlog and hopefully don't rescind any offers. Please feel free to share any timelines for the different stages you're in and any other useful info as we all try to close the deals out. TC: 145k YOE: 3 #shopify #offers #tech
So far my recruiter has completely left me in the dark regarding timeline. Verbal offer provided 2 weeks ago but no written offer yet.
I was referred in through someone else (an actual colleague, not a Blinder), already talked to a Senior Director as a pre-intro/step zero, and haven’t heard anything back from the recruiter I was supposed to be hearing from, who is the next step. I will be watching this thread closely.
Was the Sr Director chat for the team match after the verbal offer and if so, how long since that chat?
I have received a verbal offer, and I have completed the reference checks they asked from me. I have been waiting for more than 3 weeks as of today
What's the reference checks process and how long did it take? I'm assuming this was after the team matching meeting with the prospective manager
I had the reference check already but I'm still waiting for the meeting with the hiring manager.
Does anyone know if the new system rollout have impact on the offers details or on refreshers, vesting dates etc.?
It’s an awful experience; friend of mine received and accepted verbal offer 21 days ago…still no contract. They follow up and the recruiters just say sorry they can’t speed it up or give a timeline. Embarrassing.
Any guesses on whether this is just because of the compensation restructuring or something else like hiring slowdowns/ freezes?
I hope for this person’s sake it’s just some crappy process change going on and not a hiring slowdown. Punishing people this late in the pipeline is pretty shit.
I finished my interview early June and still haven’t heard back from the recruiter. Probably didn’t get the job but when I contact the recruiter for a status update, I am told to wait until end of the week for the past three weeks 😂
Seems like they're not responding to anyone properly, both after final rounds and verbal offers
I got my verbal offer on May 30th. I'm still waiting for the written contract. I contacted my recruiter asking for clarity and all I got is a request for patience. Seeing this post gave me a lot of relief because I was starting to loose hope. Thank you all 😄
When was your interview?
It started end of April lasted for almost a month
I had been told an offer was coming and to be patient because of a system freeze. I then received an email yesterday saying there is a hiring freeze and they are putting the role on hold ... They will let me know if it becomes available in the future. Very frustrating that it happened this late in the process.
Oh no, sorry to hear that. Which role did you apply for?
Sorry to hear! Had you been given a verbal offer?

How long did it take to hear the verbal offer? I had my interview 10 days ago and still waiting to hear back from the recruiter.
After the final onsite, I heard back relatively soon (onsite on Thursday and chat with recruiter with verbal offer on Tuesday)
Me too. I had my interview 10 days back and haven't heard back yet
