Coming up to 2 YOE as a Technical Consultant, not sure what lies ahead. - Really like the impact & power of tech generally speaking, but dont see myself as a hands on person for long. - Enjoy client facing work, but also an introvert, so extended projects with a difficult/irritating client - i will find it difficult to put the effort in to build that relationship. - Thoroughly enjoy, and been told i’m good at, giving presentations. - Quite an analytical & strategic thinker - Been leading a team of 5 outside of work for a charity, enjoy it & they do too it seems... Joined Consulting out of Uni purely for the learning curve. Any advice on what’s out there for someone like me is highly appreciated! #consulting #tech #career #vmware #aws #microsoft #google #facebook
It’s a strange one. I’m definitely an introvert, so not the greatest with relationships in general, but when it comes to a speech/pitch/presentation, or even leading a team, I’m more than happy to do it. Tech projects can be long, & if a client is disrespectful, not gonna waste my time building that relationship. Maybe need to just learn to be patient...
Client pays, you dance. That’s the way it works in consulting.
Number 2 and 3 are contradictory. You like giving presentations but dislike maintaining long term relationships. How come? Consulting is all about long lasting relationships with clients. Otherwise it’s just the gig job.
