Hi all,

I recently received ITA for express entry PR(skilled workers). I am not sure but if I submit the documents right now, I think I'll probably get the PR within year and half(again just guessing)

However I am not sure about moving to Canada for the next few years or so and we need to stay in Canada for 2 years(every 5 years ) to maintain the residency status.
Also I have heard that if you fail to meet that criteria it gets hard to get the PR again.

Does anyone here has applied for a PR again after it got expired due to not meeting the PR requirements and has successfully got it ? #canada

  • Do not accept if you don't move within 3 years.
You will get PR in 6 months, then need to go to Canada within 60 days, then go there and get a PR card valid for 5 years.
But to maintain, you will need to move within 3 years else it will be invalid.

Why you made an express entry profile if you didn't intended to move?

    • Do you mean not meeting requirements for maintaining PR?
You will lose your PR status. Consider PR as a visa status, like H1B. If you void it, you will have to re-apply PR, get ITA again and get the PR again!

Yeah, I am talking about maintaining the minimum PR requirements.

So, loosing my PR status won't affect my chances of getting a PR in future?

I have been hearing that it may adversely affect my future application from some folks( referring to @weakass comment)

  • If you fail to meet PR residency requirements, chances are 99% you won’t get a PR again.

      Hi there,
      Thanks for the comment.

I have been looking all over the internet for some source of info about this.
Do you know someone who tried doing this or is there an official website where I check this?

It’s not true. You can apply again. The ITA letter should mention this.

Right now Canada (and for that matter almost all major economies) are in deep recession. Don’t move unless you have a job lined up.
