The two things you've mentioned are very different motivations. If you want to be a founder, honestly, chasing your next promotion sounds really insignificant. Answer for yourself questions like why do you want to start up, what does the next promotion mean to you financially, what would happen if you lost out on that promotion, do you see you will ever be able to start up again in future because of changes in your life, how critical is it for you to bring this idea to life urgently or can it wait... Blind cannot help you answer such questions, every individual has a different set of variables and each one will have a different story!

Isn't it better to start your own thing when you actually have an idea of what you want to do and the passion to follow through. Doesn't really seem like you either based off your post
Always do your own thing
