Should I do my masters (data science) or should I accept a low paying data science job?

Hi,
I will be graduating this semester. I love data science and have had internships in the same. (1 year as a data science intern).

I am an international student and I am doing my bachelor's in CA, US.

I have a data scientist job offer (first data scientist in the company, the company does not do H1B but I guess if my performance is extraordinary then the company may do something) that pays $62,400 per year and on the other hand, I am also planning to do a masters?

What should I do?

Thanks!

    Experience > Education.

Take it and leave by end of year. Your next company will still have time to get you in 2023 H1 quota.

Never trust the company unless it is in writing. Donโ€™t count on this company providing H1B

  • Came in to say that 1st job isn't super important but saw that company doesn't do H1B. That would be a big no for me. What if your opt is running out and the company still doesn't "do something"?

  • Normally Iโ€™d say skip the masters if you have a job offer but being the first data scientist in a company as a new grad is really not a good idea

  • Go for masters, data science is a field which requires thorough knowledge of mathematics and modelling plus your degree will act as a differentiator when applying for future jobs. 100-200k offers are easy of you are really good.
