Should I move to uber?
Currently working at Google as L5. Feeling a little frustrated by the boring work and politics but would like to say it's still tolerable to me. Now it's my 4th year and yes there will be cliff on my TC soon. Also due to multiple reasons I am feeling extremely burnout so I spent some time to have a couple interviews to try my luck. Got an offer from Pinterest. Number looks good but they refuse to uplevel. Heard that Pinterest is moving slowly and having a pretty similar culture to Google. Not a huge fan of that frankly speaking. Also got an offer from Uber with sr2 title. Recruiter said that the price per share will increase if I could not make a decision at the day I interviewed and got offer but I was just not able to make it within a couple hours based on the number. So I think I have already missed a very good opportunity. However the number is much lower than Pinterest's, if we can directly compare these two. Now the question: based in the new valuation should I still try to make a round of argument, or should I just let it go? Also, how's Uber sr2 targeting at F/G levelling? Is it equivalent to level 6 or not? Numbers: Base 197k Bonus 30k Stock 640k for 4 years Target refresh 140k Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Just don't regret having to actually work pretty hard, and they don't look.after employees like.google.does so you.might have a shock. It's still a startup, lots of projects with impact, elevate coming soon, eats is booming. Comp is shit at Uber, you don't come for the money. But if stock get to $150 in the next 3 years that's nice.

Hasn’t google given you whole bunch of refreshers throughout 4 years? Why the drop in TC?
I got almost same numbers in 2016 from them but at that time they gave me target bonus in 6 figures which my friends told me was not true. Do not go thinking stock will triple etc as that is hard to predict. Never know if there is downturn next year etc. see if you are going to work with right team. My current stock has also more than doubled here after rejecting their offer.
How about Amazon stock? What is the expectation there? U think trend will continue and we will see 2000$/stock? Or keep steady for a while? Recession on the other hand will impact all if it comes.
If you ask me momentum is shifting towards 1t valuation for many companies slowly. Keeping that aside i feel bullish about future.

You realize Pinterest valuation is based on numbers they haven't reached yet. Why do you think they'd pay so much? Risk is included.

Years of experience? I jumped from goog to uber 6 months ago. Been a nice change culture wise, ofcourse my manager and team is a lot better. I would say don't worry about level a lot (obviously if you can interview again for 6, you should do it) and just double down on compensation. Get another offer from Facebook/Airbnb to get better offer.
