I’ve been at HPE for a little under 3 years as a SWE in the Bay Area. I started at 85k base, and make 90k base now. I don’t know exactly how much RSU I have but it’s very little. When talking to recruiters I often ask for a base salary range of 100k-110k which is much higher than what I currently make, but I also know that most college grads nowadays at even non-FANG companies easily make 100k base, so asking for that with my level experience makes me feel like I’m selling myself short. Can someone tell me roughly how much I should be making and asking for? Thanks I advance. I’m
Always talk TC and not base with the recruiters. Also how come you know about Blind and not know how much RSU you have ? Seems like a little ignorance on your part about how much you currently make. If you're sw with 3 years you should easily be making 150K. Now that's just my opinion. Obviously there will be trolls saying 250K but ignore the FANGers. 200 TC also not ouch reach for a SW engg with your yoe.
You must ask for at least 140 base and tc must be close to 200. Don’t under estimate your worth.
Sounds like you have fear of asking too much and trying to play by an artificial set of rules you have imposed on yourself that do nothing but hurt you. You should spend more time on here and let it grow your thinking.
Should be 130-140 base minimum
My base was 152k at the time that When I have 3 years experience. Definitely asking more
Hey OP go ask more! I asked for 140 with 1 year of exp and it worked fine.
140 base or tc?
Base. This was 4.5 years ago. And options back then worth pennies because so early stage
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
You should literally be doubling your TC.
Ask for worth and what competitive pay is, not just a little higher than your current TC. Don’t even worry about seeming greedy.
Whichever is the highest.
