Should I sell my home in Sunnyvale?
Hi peeps. Partner and I own a sfh in Sunnyvale, in the good parts between El Camino and Cupertino. We both work for tech companies in the area, so it was like 15-20 min commute to work pre-covid. We love the area, nice neighbors, safe clean area, good schools, parks, lots of shops and restaurants nearby but not crowded, and our home is nice relative to average Bay Area homes. No kids yet. We have about 25% equity in the home with low mortgage rate, but thinking about moving somewhere else to reduce mortgage, like something $1.2-1.5M.
we’d rather take out and have more equity in stonks rather than the house. So my question is, would you sell your home in Sunnyvale and move to some other place in the Bay Area? Can we even find a nice area with good schools and a quality of life similar to Sunnyvale at the $1.2-1.5M? Not looking into moving into a small condo, been there done that in SF, it was fun then, but not anymore.
Should we stay and not worry about the mortgage since prices going up (and they are going up) or downgrade and stonk additional equity? #mortgage #housing #bayarea
