I'm a sw engineer at one of respectful big software companies. I'm considering to take Online Masters degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. My goal is to become an entrepreneur/billionaire or president in Big IT company because I like to have a respectful job. I really enjoy the feeling when I can impact a lot of people and get a good respect. I personally think many people in my country and friends respect or like because I got a decent job last year. Now I'm sw engineer but I want to be a manager, and become CEO one day. I think I should take masters because... - Company pays for it - It seems like many vice presidents or presidents have Masters degree. It can be another way to prove myself. - increase my visa lottery acceptance rate from 34 to 60%. But company is willing to relocate me to Japan or Canada. - Also I have a lot of time cuz I'm young like 27. I should not take masters because... - I should put more times on my side projects and possibly the project can lead me to billionaire. Who knows? - yeah I'm young but I really should use my time efficiently. Why not build a while scalable infrastructure for my app? Why not learn more about product design and come up with a fantastic product idea and succeed? Why not learning more about Marketing? Spending my time taking some classes on the weekends doesn't seems to be productive at all. - company doesn't care whether you have masters or not these days. I have a limited time every day and I noticed I can do Masters and side project at the same time. What do you guys think? I want to hear some good opinions or advices from experienced or smart people. Thank you.
"become an entrepreneur/billionaire".. I like how you think ;). I salute your ambition and kudos for career breaks. Not sure if I qualify for 'experienced or smart people' but coming back to your question, I don't think online programs are that impactful to boost your resume up but learn for the sake of learning or visa chances of that is your end goal. Education never hurts. Masters is not really necessary for your goals. TC?
170K TC.
I think so too. I don't think it's necessary. Thanks!
I’m doing OMSCS but considering to go fulltime. I realized life’s short to do things on the side. Go all in and just beat the pulp out of stuff
Hell yeah
Too much 'respect' in that post. Indian?
Asian :)

Indian PM 2024: who gets your vote?
Join Goldman Sachs or some such financial company. After a couple of promos, you become a vice president. No need of any master's degree I believe.
With SW engineering role?
Yeah in the financial industry like everyone is a VP (except capital one oddly enough)
