I have one summer before I graduate and received an offer to go back to Salesforce. If I want to eventually go to FAANG full-time, would it be better for me to to take a return internship at Salesforce or go to another company? I don't think I'll be able to get a FAANG offer this summer, and have the option to potentially go to Bloomberg, Quora, or some small startups. Thoughts in the comments?
Where is you head at for various advantages and disadvantages?
My thoughts on pros vs. cons of returning: Pros: 1. Heard that some companies like seeing that you returned to a company because it meant you were given a return offer 2. Salesforce has a good internship program 3. I wouldn't mind going to Salesforce full-time if I can't get Facebook, Amazon, Google, etc. Cons: 1. Having an internship at multiple different companies might seem more impressive 2. Already experienced what it's like at Salesforce and don't get to experience other companies before graduating
I'd drop the "impressive resume" angle and think about where youd learn the most.
Voted for Quora - unpopular opinion. Some really smart people working there from what I’ve heard.
Quora definitely has smart people working there and it would be a good expereince. But imo I dont see any future for their app I do use their app a lot but I dont think they will ever make good money its too niche. Try to work in some cool teams at Google/Fb like the team at Google designing AI infra chips that would really help you to see how industry does research.
Definitely intern somewhere else your last summer. Network hard and stay in touch with your contacts so you won’t have a problem getting referrals later

Why FAANG after Quora? Quora has some very smart engineers and interesting problems, and can pay more than AAG and match F for new grad. (Netflix doesn’t offer new grad positions.)
Main objective for first few years out of college is to build brand value resume to help in recruiting and overall career progression. Feel like that takes priority over working with smart engineers and interesting problems early in my career.
