My current work is not as interesting. Minimal stress, but the tech is the same old Amazon stuff. I have an offer with the same comp in a small cap company. Tech stack is much more interesting - more big data and analytics stuff and GraphQL. Been here for a year and half. Moved to the new team a month ago. Would I be blacklisted if I leave now? TC 175 Should I take the offer?
Depending on the company, but likely not since the move in internal. But you should post more details about the company and TC!
With this info you provided NO. Don't passively change jobs.
Can you elaborate?
It seems you didn't actively interview to find a new job, and this opportunity just came up, probably a recruiter contacted you and you were bored and interviewed with them. Right? If you want to change jobs, plan ahead, interview with multiple companies, have competing offers and make sure your TC jumps.
Imho, it's not just about tc, you make enough, it's about personal growth. If you don't get a resume bullet point worthy project every few months - find a new place
It’s more important to enjoy the work you do. Take it. Life is short my man.
I just feel soon I will be out of skills with all new technologies out there and only working with internal tools here make me feel I am missing out on all these. My projects here are typical CRUD service with some service to service call.
try to get at least a 15% bump I’d take it then
If you don't have to pay back signing bonus.. But keep in mind, there's a clause that you'll have to pay 1/12 of your sign-in bonus if you leave the company before your 1st year anniversary.. But it depends on your agreement
You wouldn’t be blacklisted. As a manager, I would be annoyed that I just started on-boarding and you left. But if you think this is a better opportunity for you, it’s in my interest to see you excel elsewhere even if I end up annoyed.
Will you repay any signing bonus
I currently get my signing bonus beginning of every month. So perhaps not? I understand they ask it back only if it's paid at the beginning of the year for the rest of the months after you resign.
