I'm relocating to Austin in mid Feb or March. Altair (FB's relocation company) recommends a local realtor. I know using these realtor helps to streamline expense/fees submission.

My scenario is, I'm not selling any home, but planning to buy one. I have heard there are realtors (eg: opendoor) who give 1-2% out of 3% realtor fee (especially if I buy new home) to help with closing cost.

Does Altair's recommended realtor return those commission too? if so how much they refund? if not is there any financial benefit of using these realtor over other realtor?

Yeah, they will get a kick back from the realtor for the business. Get your own real estate agent.

Timely post. I accepted a job at Meta and I am moving to Austin around the same timeframe. Any areas you are looking at specifically? We have a 2 year old so we are targeting the burbs but trying to figure out which one.

I had to move to the NYC area and when I told my realtor our budget, she said it was impossible. Like, excuse me I work at Meta, I can’t be that poor.

So we hired our own realtor and found a great place on our own, within our budget.
