The more I use the latest windows 10 desktop OS. it feels more like abandon ware to me. Microsoft has fully shifted its focus on Cloud and Internet Services. And its pretty clear that their desktop Windows is more like a liability and I wonder how does it fit into the narrative of Cloud + Internet Services. IBM sold off its PC division to lenovo. Because PC was no longer relevant to IBMs future business. Should Microsoft do the same?
They should just liberate it like IBM PC
Exactly!!
Don't you think that might be deeply hurtful to Bill Gates? No Microsoft employee would do this or suggest this, purely out of respect for the man. You never sell that ancestral home unless you are dead broke.
Damn son
Ya shutdown something that still generates billions of dollars a year.
No. It's a large portion of revenue, is incredibly profitable, and has actually been growing lately.
People without a clue talking out of their ass.
Uh. Windows 10 is still the best desktop OS.
If RIM wanted to sell blackberry os, would anyone buy it? Windows still generates good amount of revenue. Later when it is not profitable, they can sunset it or just make it open source. Nobody will buy it.

Why is it so G*damn difficult to move money out of India
I believe that windows and office is still a huge percentage of revenue
Nope. Office still is, but Windows has shrunk
Isn't "More Personal Computing" which accounted for 36% of the revenue dominated by windows revenue? I know that surface and gaming grow fast in that category, but I think they are small in absolute value
