Everyone should learn how to code. Even 5 month old babies
No ! Donβt take my job !
They can forcefeed coding all they want to reduce programmer wages, but only a few have hacker personalities to want to do it 8 hours a day as an occupation.
As a marketer, learn how to filter and pivot in Excel without being stupid about it. It's amazing how many don't know even that... Then learn basic SQL so you can combine datasets in a way that doesn't drive you crazy and maybe even pull some extra info. Finally some R or Python, just enough to get data into the prewritten stats and graphing tools. You'll be able to do x100 more than your peers by the time you're done

I think technical literacy is a good thing to have in general, but as a digital marketer youβd be better served learning the ins and outs of marketing analytics (LTV, CAC, attribution, etc.) than spending a bunch of time learning Python or JS or something. SQL could be a valuable thing to know though, in terms of pulling data to evaluate performance metrics.
