I am getting sick of Bay area rents. Rents are the biggest money pits. We can’t even buy a decent house (3 bed 3 bath) in a good school district without being in debt for our life. What are the other awesome cities in US which we can consider to settle and buy a decent house. My wife and I are working and both of us have 10+ years of experience in Salesforce domain. Any inputs will be appreciated.
Seattle area is an option. But it 5 more years to be like bay area
Austin and Denver
I feel you, more or less the same situation, I hear North Carolina is pretty good, while still might be affordable.
Adding it to my list. Thank you!
3 bed 3 bath is not a decent house. It’s a luxury house in the Bay Area. We all know that
Imagine that in some countries people are unable to buy 1bdr flat as they can’t get mortgage for 30years beacuse they don’t have credit score nor so much savings. Enjoy your life as is :)
I’m 2 years late to this. Terrible comparison. "Other people got it worse than you, suck it up" With this mentality, anyone making 100k should never try to get more.
Salt Lake City region: Lehi and Draper are known as “Silicon Slopes”.
Adding them to my list. Thank you!
I second that. It’s expanded a lot in the past few years and has a rich history in CS. In fact lookup where the first 4 nodes of ARPAnet were. First one outside Cali was Utah.
Why not Chicago? Great city life+insanely low housing price
I lived in Naperville (Chicago) during my early years in the US. Somehow, never liked the city. Also, I had my first and last experience of racism in the US in that city. Thank you for the suggestion.
Boulder or Denver. COL reasonable compared to the Bay area with Denver being on the cheaper side. Plus, work/life balance and tons of outdoor activities. Boulder is called Silicon Mountain, esp. now that Google opened a large campus downtown.
Thank you. Will add Denver to my list.
The biggest fucking problem - California has a weather like nowhere in the world. Once someone moves here, gets addicted to this weather.
Southern California's weather > Nor Cal. And I grew up in Nor Cal. Move to the beach cities or at least close to them. I just miss the different seasons. Food is also better here with more variety.
Check out Detroit or Flint MI. Great deals there
