I’m on H1B currently. I got an offer letter from Home Depot that I signed. They haven’t started by H1B transfer. They will only initiate my I-140 after an Year. Because of this reason, I’d like to pull out now (I know I should have done it earlier). What would be the consequences? Is there something I should be careful about?
U won’t be able to go back to hone depot again . That’s it.
Assuming you’re in California (just because those are the rules I know) you are free to decline the offer at any time for any reason. If it’s a small company they might be mad and not hire you in the future. A large company probably wouldn’t care, especially since your reason is pretty legit.
That’s a fairly legit reason to back out of an offer. Most FANG companies will start Day 1 for engineers bc the recruiting pool is so competitive and companies know they will lose good candidates for exactly that reason. If you’re not an engineer, you pretty much have to wait.
You assume OP can get an offer from FANG or has an alternative offer which offers gc from day1. Otherwise 1 year rule is pretty common outside of big tech firms. I’m also pretty sure op asked blind if he should sign a few weeks back and heard a huge “nono” from most people.(I remember this convo about Home Depot) so if he decides to go ahead knowing it that well - sad. Ruins a chance for another potential H1b hire who cares less about their gc
It’s ok - it’s your life - I have seen in my past company many pull out even after h1 transfer .
Been there done it
Did they blacklist? Any other problems?
I guess the recruiter hates me. I never tried reinterviewing there so don't know about blacklist. That's all there's to it.
