My itinerary says I am meeting with 3 engineering managers, 1 software engineer, and 1 engineering data scientist...I am a fullstack engineer. Is this normal? I asked my recruiter, but she said it's normal...still feels a bit weird. Any advice on what to expect? Will I have a design round? I'm interviewing in Mountain View. I'm interviewing as a candidate with 4 YOE so not sure of the levels. EDIT: Ok guys, I found out that the ML engineer is actually my lunch buddy lmao.
If ML is not in the job description, then don’t worry about it coming up in interviews.
Got it. Thanks!
Not good advice. Brush up on ML concepts and be upfront and honest about skill level. Talking about ml is different then designing an algo.
Entirely possible the data scientist will just ask relevant back-end questions. In smaller companies the data scientist will also be responsible for ETLs and even data engineering on the back-end.
Bruh just be kind — that’s one of their values. Kind == big TC EZ 👏
How many questions you got in phone screen? Any of LC? Easy/med? Did you make any bugs in phone screen coding?
Phone screen was LC medium. I made 0 bugs. The guy ran my code.
Did you LC with JavaScript?
There will be design questions. We ask design questions even at L2
Lunch is an actual interview for experience and culture fit.

Managers will ask leet too. Data scientist to make sure you can talk to ml people.
Uhh...the hell am I gonna talk to ml people about??
Dude you'll get exposed to all sorts of people. They are people too. Can you carry a conversation with a person outside of your comfort zone is something that gets screened quite a lot.
