Snow season is coming, and I want to learn how to snowboard. Looking for suggestions: - Is group class ok or it's better to take 1-1? - I plan to practice after work hours, are there places that offer evening sessions? - What is a good place to get all the equipment or it's better to start with rentals? I'm in Seattle area. TC 220
Do rentals first
Rentals first, one on one better. You get personalized attention and can correct your issues quickly vs a group class.
How tolerant are you to frustration? And get good gloves, jacket, pants.
I've voted "lost the count" in the "How many times you've been rejected" poll, so yes, I'm quite tolerant to frustration 🙂
take a group lesson on a wednesday. nobody will be in your group
Great trick, thanks.
if you can, head up to whistler on a tuesday night and maybe do back to back lessons wednesday and thursday. then work on those things over the weekend
Learn to ski instead. Patrician sport
I tried, and can do basic things. Now I'm curious to try snowboard.
skiing is easier to learn how to get down the mountain. snowboarding is much easier to master but slower initial ramp up time. requires a few lessons and a solid week or two on the mountain
You must be 5’9 to be on snowboard
Practice: “how to fall safely” and you will thank me later!
Learn at Mini Mountain in Bellevue first. 3 lessons
Never heard of those. Have you tried? How is that comparing to practicing on a real surface?
It's perfect. Go to their website. I learned there when I was 4 in 1980. My kid learned there 10 years ago. My wife learned there 2 years ago. It's a fantastic place. They even have a chairlift to learn that.
Rent until you know more, buy wrist braces, private lesson or small group, multiple consecutive day lessons >>> one lesson every few weeks.
