So this just happened

Just made such a stupid and careless mistake. Was taking the amazon online assessment, the test cases passed and I was overwhelmed with joy. I clicked “submit test” thinking it would only submit the test cases but it finished the entire coding section. Never got to finish problem 1. R.I.P.

This is one of the filters we’ve put to weed out candidates. You know, we have lots of internal tools with very poorly designed UIs and lots of footguns so we want to protect ourselves against new hires clicking the wrong button and causing an outage.

Yeap, a certain webtool with multiple network workflows comes to mind :)

The last person who caused a Sev 1 was also overwhelmed with joy when she clicked “Deactivate” and didn’t check that it was the Prod environment.

What platform was it? I generally see a warning like "Are you sure you want to submit? You have x minutes left"

Amcat I think. Oddly enough. I don’t recall seeing any warning. It submit after one click.

That’s the one-click patent 😂

Reminds me of the "nuke buttons" What kind of Dev puts "Reset" on a form 😂

Send an email to the recruiter and ask for a redo. Admit a mistake in plain language, explain it exactly how you did here.

Write a COE.

What do we learn boys? Test cases are for losers.

Explain to recruiter immediately 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd say my dog jumped up and hit the mouse which caused the button to be prematurely pressed.
