Blind seems to be full of complaints about recruiters that ghost candidates. You’d think that someone would come up with a YELP-like directory of recruiters to out those that ghost frequently.
Build it🐵
This is good idea but Yelp is notorious for negatively impacting small businesses so it’s probably not the best model. 1. How would u verify that the recruiter really did ghost a candidate? And there would need to be a explicit definition for “ghost” e.g. the recruiter failed to contact the candidate after x weeks and failed to respond to x number of candidate’s emails 2. Would u use the recruiter’s actual name? If so that’s a big privacy concern
Pretty much every recruiter has ghosted at some point, so it will just end up being a list of every recruiter.
Or maybe instead of listing individual recruiters, just list the company’s ghosting rate.
How could you get the rate? If you had the number of ghosting, what number would you divide by and how would you get that number?
I would imagine it being user input (i.e. I did/didn’t get ghosted). The rate won’t be super accurate but good enough to give an idea.
What are you going to do, ask to work with a different recruiter because you read about them online?
We do this about everything, like asking for a directory of shitty coworkers and bosses too. Black mirror social media ep.
Issue is - you will end up with fake reports
This is a useless effort for people with egos who want to “get back at recruiters”. If you’re not hearing back from them, it means they’re not into you. Find other opportunities.
Well there IS a directory of good recruiters - bit.ly/gnews-layoffs-help We should make a list of the ghosting ones too in this doc!
Great idea 💡 I use Glassdoor to right review on interviews which covers companies but it is good to go after individuals who act unprofessional.
Not really, it’s unlikely to be the individual recruiter that wants to ghost. It’s often due to things outside their control.
Disagree. It is their job to keep the candidates updated. If they don’t get response from hiring manager, they should communicate that to candidates. Simply leave candidates in dark is not right or professional.
